Metal siding exterior is an umbrella term that refers to several materials. The most common example are aluminum and steel. At first, these materials were used for exterior because of the durability and strength. But as time passed metal siding has become a staple for not only commercial but residential building as well.

Both of these types of siding come in a carrier variety of colours. And if you can not find the perfect colour of your choice it is also easy to paint the metal siding and the process is not costly at all. Just like wood, metal siding also comes in several different styles. But the most famous styles to get in metal are panels and planks.

The installation is somewhat difficult and may require more time due to the weight of siding. Both steel and aluminum have an expected lifespan of 40 years but the well-maintained metal exterior can last a few years more than that. The colour of the exterior does fade away after a few years on the cheaper options and siding starts looking chalky. Which is why it is important to repaint the metal exterior every few years. However, there are some premium options on the market, like Longboard® or AL13 for example, which looks just awesome and pretty much easy on maintenance.
